The theme for SIEF’s 15th Congress (hosted by the International Society for Ethnology and Folklore and the University of Helsinki) is “Breaking the Rules? Power, Participation, Transgression” – taking place as an online event, 21-24 June 2021.
SIEF (Société Internationale d´Ethnologie et de Folklore) organise an international gathering every two years to encourage interdisciplinary dialogues on themes related to social anthropology, ethnology, folklore, cultural heritage, etc.
CALL FOR PAPERS (CfP): proposals for the Panel “Museums as Spaces for Anti-Racism” (DUE BY: 26/11/2020)
The conference panel “Museums as Spaces for Anti-Racism” – co-convened by Dr Anna Rastas (Tampere University) and myself (Dr Carol Ann Dixon, University of Sheffield) – will explore and critique empirical studies on anti-racism within museums and museum work covering a wide range of activities and interventions: from research and curating, to planning and organising cultural programmes and collaborative partnerships.

Anna and I welcome expressions of interest from correspondents wishing to present research papers (or alternative interventions, performance installations, artworks, etc.) that address the core themes of anti-racism, activism and decolonial practice within museums. SIEF’s call for papers/contributions runs from 23 October to 26 November 2020.
